A web application is basically a portible website that runs on just about any smartphone on the market. Unlike native applications that have to go through a whole approval process web applications are able to be used by any smartphone user with out the approval of thier device manufacturer. Also great about web applications over native applications is that one application works on all devices, unlike native apps where you have to have a seperate application for each purpose.
